I’ve tested the Fujifilm 45-100 mm f/4 against two other Fuji GFX zooms, the 32-64/4 and the 100-200/5.6. In this and the two posts after it, I’ll be comparing the lens to the Fuji 45/2.8, 63/2.8, and 110/2. I’m doing the 110/2 in this post, and testing it against the 45-100 at f/4, f/5.6 and f/8.

Our Verdict. Medium format zoom lenses are a rarity, so the Fujifilm GF 45-100mm f/4 is welcome for that fact alone. The 45 is used mainly when I shoot dark skies otherwise I use the 32-64. I had a 63 for a nano second thinking I needed it for the speed but it turns out the 45 is better suited for my needs. I'll begin leaving the 120 with macro tubes home as the 100-200 fills that reach. The 45 is a great lens to have however the 32-64 is better

Testing note: there are some things about the GFX 100 that drive me up the wall, and the thumbwheel is near the top of that list. The 45-100 is an excellent optic. I have it and also the 32-64 which I bought over 2 years ago when the 50S was released. I will be selling the 32-64 next year as I need the extra reach more often than the slightly wider view. I tend to shoot a lot of verticals to stitch later on into a landscape orientation image.
